Dinkum Oil visit local Radio Station
Unknown to many, Christmas Island [in the Indian Ocean] has a local radio station [6RCI]. Although not accessible on mainland Australia, moves are afoot to incorporate podcasts of some of the local broadcasts online this year.
The station has a motto: "...where vinyl never died!" due to its extensive vinyl record collection in English, Chinese and Malay, dating from the 1960's... and yes! they are still spun today...
Recently Dinkum Oil were invited to perform live at the radio station. Here are some shots of the station and its envious Ocean Views....
Dinkum Oil are 'Rovers'
Some people may not be aware that Dinkum Oil have a background in performing as roving minstrels. Certain restaurants, bars and festivals lend themselves to this type of music. This was brought home on the weekend when they played at the Bluegrass & Old Time Music Festival in Manjimup. Check out below, some of the footage from their performance at the 'Tall Timbers' Wine Bar on Saturday.
